How long does a paper Connecticut refund take?
Connecticut says it takes 10 to 12 weeks to process a paper return. If more than 12 weeks have passed since you mailed it and you have no refund or letter, it says to call 860-297-5962.
Connecticut says to allow 10 to 12 weeks from the day you mail a paper return before you check its status. Until it is processed, it is not on its system.
For example, if you mail it on March 1, 2027, its status can show in Where's my Refund? from May 10, 2027, and the refund should not come before May 10, 2027.
How do I check my Connecticut refund status?
Use Where's my Refund? on drs.ct.gov. On the myconneCT welcome page, choose "Where's my Refund?" on the Individuals panel. You don't need to log in.
It asks for these, in this order:
- Social Security Number (SSN). Yours, typed on the agency's own site. Connecticut does not say whether its tool takes an ITIN
- Year. The year the return is for, not the year you mail it
- Refund Amount Requested on Return. Whole dollars, the refund you requested on your return: Form CT-1040NR/PY line 27 (2025 forms)
What can slow down my Connecticut refund?
Your refund can be delayed if DRS needs more information or must verify your identity to prevent refund theft.
- Direct deposit is not available to first-time Connecticut filers. They get a check, and DRS says processing may be slower.
- If the direct deposit account is outside the United States, DRS sends a check instead.
- A nonresident alien who files without an ITIN is contacted by DRS, which cannot process the return until it has the ITIN.
What else should I know about Connecticut's Where's my Refund?

- For a direct deposit, allow at least two business days after the refund is processed for the money to reach the account.
- DRS business hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at 860-297-5962.
