What can slow down my Oregon refund?

Oregon names mailing a paper return, errors that need adjusting, a missing or incomplete return, a return picked for more review, and more than one return under your name as common reasons for delay.

  • A paper return needs all required Oregon schedules, proof of tax withheld and a copy of your federal return. Leaving out the federal return delays processing.
  • Returns mailed close to April 15 can take longer, and so can returns that need identity verification or proof of tax withheld.

What else should I know about Oregon's Where's My Refund?

It shows refunds for the current filing period only, not amended returns or earlier years.

  • It is updated once a day, overnight, but Oregon says a status is unlikely to change daily.
  • Contact Oregon if your status has not changed in more than 20 weeks. The numbers are 503-378-4988 and 800-356-4222, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, closed 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursdays and on holidays.
  • Oregon generally pays interest on a refund from 45 days after the due date or the day you file, whichever is later. Not all refunds earn interest.
